Adios Mariposas

We tagged the rest of the butterflies today.

We then took our friends outside to feed them and release them.

Adios Mariposas!
Good luck on your journey!

It's a girl!

We had our first girl emerge early this morning.  We just received tags in the mail and will tag this girl and send her on her way!

Now we are patiently awaiting the arrival of our others.

When will they emerge?

Last week our last caterpillar did it's pupa dance and went into a chrysalis.  We are very excited to see all of our butterflies emerge.  There are 9 altogether!

We will post pictures this week once they begin emerging.  For now, here are a few photos from last week's Monarch antics.

Here are our 8 chrysalis slowly completing their metamorphosis.
Notice there is one caterpillar to the left.
He was in his "J stage" there.
We caught him doing the pupa dance at the end of the day!

We fed three male butteflies on Friday.

During recess we released three adult butterflies so they could begin their journey to Mexico.

Adios Mariposas!
