Magnetic Maze STEM

After learning about magnets, the children were challenged to create a maze and use magnetism to maneuver a paperclip through it.

First they had to brainstorm their ideas.

They then put their ideas into action.

It was a success!

The following day the children had a chance to use the actiview to demonstrate their maze on the Promethean Board for the class.

iPads for Native American Review

To review for the Native American test, the students made short videos on the iPads explaining the triptych they created for a tribe.  They then broke into groups to watch the videos as they reviewed for the test.

These kids not only have a great grasp of the three tribes but they are also becoming pretty tech savvy!

American Education Week

Thank you to all of the parents who came to help with our "A Chair for my Mother" STEM project.

The kids made some pretty comfy chairs!

The next day they were asked to create an advertisement to go along with their chair and present it to the class.

I will be looking for these chairs in furniture stores in the future!

The children also created tipis out of corn tortillas!

Book Pumpkin

The students did a great job decorating our class pumpkin to look like Gooney Bird Greene.  I think the details and props are my favorite part!

Animal Habitats

The students participated in a STEM project a few days ago.  They were asked to create a habitat for an unknown animal in their given shoe box.  They had to make sure their habitat had food, air, water, shelter, and space.  Here is what the groups came up with.
