New Year, New Blog

We are starting the year off by starting up this blog for our 4th grade class. Any posts prior to this one had to do with my wonderful 2nd graders from last year.

It has been a busy and fun school year so far.  Here is a quick review of what has happened so far:

Field Day

Reading with our Kindergarten Buddies

STEM: Make a device that can help prevent pollutants from going into the Chesapeake Bay.

Visiting Jamestown and Yorktown, VA

We said goodbye to our old class pet, Geico, and hello to our new pet, Yoshi.

STEM: Rebuild and redesign the Jamestown fort after the big fire.

STEM:  Design a Macy's Day parade floats that uses magnetism to move.

Participating in a question session with NASA about their new weather satellite.

Eating in the classroom while watching Orion's orbit around Earth and its splashdown.

Trying out computer coding during "Hour of Code."

Helping Kindergarteners with their STEM projects

STEM: Create a sled that is cost effective and goes the farthest.

Creating comic strips that portray the reasons behind the American Revolution.

This is just a small sample of what we have done so far in 4th grade.  Stay tuned because the 4th graders will be taking over this blog while filling you in on the rest of the year!
